Amsterdam-based mental health startup OpenUp has secured €20 million in funding to expand its platform that provides employees with anonymous access to psychological and wellness support. The company, which connects workers directly to psychologists, lifestyle experts, and financial counselors through their employers, now serves over 2,000 organizations across five European countries.
Investment Round and Market Expansion
The funding round was led by Smartfin, with Rubio Impact Ventures returning as a key investor. The latter had previously led OpenUp’s Series A in 2022, signaling strong confidence in the company’s growth trajectory. This latest investment will help OpenUp scale its operations and enhance its platform, aiming to reach more businesses and improve workplace mental health support.
Addressing a Growing Need
The traditional path to psychological help in Europe often involves a GP referral, which can be time-consuming and stigmatizing. OpenUp’s model addresses these barriers by offering a streamlined, confidential route to support.
